Drystill
Challenge/Opportunity:
It is estimated that distillation and evaporation processes account for 9% of all energy consumed in North America. This project is aiming to reduce the operating costs and capital costs of industries who use distillation and evaporation in their production processes.
Solution/Collaboration:
Drystill has partnered with Lambton College to test the continuous removal of ethanol from an ethanol fermentation batch that will use a low temperature, non-destructive distillation process to remove ethanol from the fermentation broth a the yeast is producing ethanol. This project is designed to improve the production of ethanol and improve sugar utilization.
