Shell Eco-Marathon
Challenge/Opportunity:
The Shell Eco-marathon aims to inspire engineering students to develop new approaches to sustainable mobility and fuel efficiency. It is a major educational project that encourages and fosters innovation in which students work together to explore potential solutions to both current and future transport and energy challenges. Shell is committed to help promoting efficient energy use, addressing environmental concerns linked to the use of fossil fuels, understanding current patterns of consumption and exploring alternative energies.
Solution/Collaboration:
The students and faculty will research new alternatives and improvements to energy and sustainability. The goal is to build a gas powered vehicle to compete in the challenge. While researching different fuel combustion and Instrumentation/control efficiencies. As part of the Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies these students, staff and faculty have integrated with our region’s major industry partner Shell through the Shell Eco-Marathon for a great experiential learning opportunity and applied research opportunity. This project will benefit and help continue to foster the relationship with Shell Canada and also help Research development in Sarnia area.
