Bio & Academic Background

Shafee Ahamed joined Lambton College in August 2015 to serve as a project coordinator at the department of Applied Research & Innovation for an NSERC project "Renewable Energy Conversion and Storage Research". Roles and responsibilities included outreach of developed methodologies, testing and validation of solar and wind energy for consumption and storage. Presently, Shafee is serving at Lambton College as an associate professor on a part-time basis.

Before joining Lambton College, over the past 25 years the domain of Shafee's experience, expertise and knowledge are extensive as an academic leader, seasoned researcher, builder of communities of interest and Special Interest Groups. Shafee's past positions include as researcher at National Research Council, Institute for Research in Construction and Institute for Advance Manufacturing. During his stay at the Research Council, he has collaborated with many industries and organizations. His main area of research included Advance Manufacturing, Modelling, and Simulation, use of Virtual Reality in Engineering, Integration, Data exchange and CAD/CAM. He has served as a chair of the technical committee and also as a member of the steering committee at the Institute for Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Canada, whose mission to lead and facilitate the coordinated use of BIM in the design, construction and management of the Canadian built environment.

Shafee continues to be a leader in his field of expertise. He teaches Building Information Modelling as a graduate course at Departmart of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Western University. He also serves as a freelance technical reviewer for the Ontario Centres of Excellence which connects entrepreneurs, startups, industry and academia to develop early-stage projects, commercialize innovation and compete globally.

Shafee has over 50 publications and is a recipient of three major awards.
