Lambton College student group to host free concert with Winnipeg musician and mental health advocate Robb Nash

September 27, 2016

SARNIA, September 27, 2016 – A Lambton College student group is hoping that a free concert featuring musician Robb Nash will help them raise awareness about mental health in the Sarnia-Lambton community. The student-led mental health group Let’s Face It reached out to the Winnipeg native and mental health advocate over the summer after reading about The Robb Nash Project.

The Robb Nash Project engages young people through the power of music and words, encouraging them to make positive life choices and lead lives of significance and purpose.

Following a life-threatening accident as a teenager, Nash, lead singer and voice of the Robb Nash Project, experienced anger, self-doubt and depression. After working through these issues and recovering from significant physical injuries, the highly-acclaimed musician found his passion: connecting to young people through music and meaningful lyrics.

Through personal stories, song and video, Nash deals with serious issues including drug and alcohol addiction, bullying, self-harm, depression and suicide. His work has inspired countless youth to stay hopeful, recognize their unique strengths, and make positive choices.

Nash and his band have toured across Canada performing more than 150 concerts annually in schools, detention centres, First Nations communities and other venues.

Let’s Face It Lambton College is pleased to be partnering with Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre to host a free concert featuring the Robb Nash Project on Monday, October 3, 2016 for those 16 years of age and older.

Given the subject matter, organizers of the event have also arranged to have counsellors and other mental health resources on site throughout the concert to assist guests who may need support during the show.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. To obtain your complimentary ticket, please contact Charlene Mahon at Lambton College at 519-542-7751 ext. 3225.
