Peter Mansbridge Headlines Lambton College’s 3rd Annual President’s Gala

February 25, 2019

SARNIA, February 25, 2019 – Lambton College is pleased to welcome Canadian broadcaster and journalist Peter Mansbridge as the guest speaker at the 3rd annual President’s Gala on Saturday, May 11, 2019. For five decades, including 29 years as anchor of CBC’s The National, Mansbridge guided Canadians through the political, economic, and cultural events that have shaped the country.

Mansbridge’s sterling career at the CBC is without precedent. He served as the chief correspondent of CBC News, helmed its flagship show The National, anchored all CBC News specials, and hosted the interview show Mansbridge: One on One. He is the recipient of more than a dozen national awards for broadcast excellence, 13 honorary doctorates, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and was also named an Officer of the Order of Canada—one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

In addition to Mansbridge’s keynote address, the President’s Gala will feature a gourmet dinner, live music, and live and silent auctions.

Tickets are on sale March 18 and can be purchased through The Lambton College Foundation at 519-542-7751 ext. 2459 or foundation@lambtoncollege.ca.

The Lambton College Foundation would like to extend a special thanks to the following partners for sponsoring this distinguished event:

  • Barry and Erika Hogan; HUB International; and Whodo Holdings Ltd.: Presenting Sponsors
  • NOVA Chemicals: Supporting Sponsor
  • Kel-Gor Limited: Live Auction Sponsor
  • TD Insurance: Silent Auction Sponsor

Limited sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, contact Marc Guilbeault, Director, The Lambton College Foundation & Alumni Association, at marc.guilbeault@lambtoncollege.ca.

The inaugural President’s Gala featured television personality Rick Mercer while the second annual Gala featured Canadian comic and entertainer Steve Patterson. These sold-out events raised more than $125,000 for the Envision Tomorrow Capital and Equipment Renewal Campaign, which was established to enhance academic programming, student athletic needs, and applied research opportunities.

Campaign funds have supported the renovation and construction of new world-class facilities, including the Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies, which officially opened on September 20, 2018, the Athletics & Fitness Complex, which officially opened on October 18, 2018, and the NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre, which will have a grand opening ceremony on May 15.
