Lambton College Students Recognized by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Southwestern Ontario Branch

SARNIA, April 25, 2019 – A pair of Lambton College students are set to be recognized for their talents in the manufacturing sector.

On Wednesday, May 8, students Joshua Duffy and Luis Ruiz Navarro will each receive a $2000 scholarship on behalf of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Southwestern Ontario Branch (CME-SWOB).

The scholarships will be presented during the organization’s 24th Annual Manufacturer’s Scholarship Awards and Recognition Night, which welcomes more than 250 manufacturers from all over South Western Ontario.

The volunteer-based group is comprised of representatives from regional manufacturing plants, related service industries and educational institutions. Their core mandate is to promote and support education in manufacturing by providing scholarships to promising students.

Since 1995, CME-SWOB has awarded nearly $240,000 in scholarships to 166 students. Of the 10 scholarships being awarded during this year’s event, two are being presented to Lambton College students for the first time.

“The manufacturing sector continues to flourish, and is a significant economic driver in Southwestern Ontario. Having our students recognized on behalf of CME-SWOB not only helps relieve the financial burden for our talented students, but also helps raise the profile of this critical sector while supporting the next generation of manufacturing professionals,” says Dave Machacek, Dean, Technology, Energy & Apprenticeship, Lambton College.
