Local Gamers Can Win Big at Upcoming Lambton Esports Open

SARNIA, February 13, 2020 – Cash prizes and scholarships are up for grabs as gamers gather to compete at Lambton College next month. The 2020 Lambton Esports Open will take place March 27 – 29 and will feature competitive showdowns in FIFA 20, NHL 20, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles, Fortnite Solos, and Rocket League Duos.

The weekend tournament, which coincides with the College’s annual Spring Open House, is organized by students enrolled in the Esports Entrepreneurship & Administration program.

Early bird registration expires Friday, February 14 and entry fees for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Rocket League start at $30 per player, and Fortnite starts at $40 per player. Fees also include pizza and refreshments at the event.

The competition is open to both students and non-students, with prizes ranging from $750 to $1000 depending on entry pool. Lambton scholarships are also available for those competing in FIFA 20, NHL 20, or Mario Kart 8.

Some amazing door prizes will also be up for grabs, and guests can also learn more about the College’s program offerings and new world-class facilities, including the campus Esports Arena.

The tournament has been entirely organized and operated by students enrolled in the Esports Entrepreneurship & Administration program. Students interested in learning more about the program will have the opportunity to chat with faculty and students during the College’s annual Spring Open House taking place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.
