SARNIA, May 21, 2020 – Lambton College is planning to implement a hybrid learning approach for new and returning students in September, so students can expect to receive their educational experience both at home and on campus when classes resume in the fall.

College officials are moving ahead with the development of a plan that will provide students with an opportunity to successfully achieve their program learning outcomes and the high-quality education they have come to expect at Lambton.

President & CEO Judith Morris says, “The blended approach will apply to both program delivery and student services. Delivery of theory will be online, and most hands-on training will take place on campus, while adhering to protocols for physical distancing and public health guidelines.”

Lambton will carefully implement safety guidelines established by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Public Health to maintain the health and safety of students and employees.

“Our culture of safety remains our primary consideration,” says Morris. “The health and well-being of our students and staff is our number one priority as we look forward to welcoming our new and returning students.”

With safety measures in place, Lambton also plans to offer a hybrid Student Services model with some Residence and Food Services and alternative possibilities for student life on campus, as well as the Testing Centre and Campus Shop. Additionally, an in-depth student remote support plan is planned for students that includes a virtual orientation process and access to other services such as online counselling and tutoring, amongst other college services.

Details and logistics of the hybrid plan are currently being developed as part of a series of “Plan Ahead” efforts which will ensure the College remains flexible in its ability to adapt as new information or public health measures emerge.
