Lambton College Honoured with Two International Awards of Excellence

SARNIA, June 28, 2022 – Lambton College has been globally recognized with a pair of prestigious awards.

The College was recently honoured with two international awards of excellence in the areas of Outstanding Student Achievement and Applied Research and Innovation.

The awards were announced during the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) International Awards of Excellence, which took place in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, from June 15 – 17.

Awards were distributed in 12 categories, recognizing best practices from post-secondary institutions around the world.

Lambton College Business – Accounting student Andrea Prins was awarded the Gold Medal in Outstanding Student Achievement for her exceptional academic achievement, significant community contributions, and her commitment to charitable causes.

Prins is currently the President of Enactus Lambton, and has been instrumental in the success of Project One Circle, working with First Nations across Canada to develop agricultural and entrepreneurial initiatives designed to reduce food insecurity and provide business and employment opportunities.

“This is more than just a win for me but a big win for the Lambton College community. I couldn't even believe that I was considered, let alone nominated for this award. To win first overall for student achievement on an international level is something I never thought I would get to experience. Lambton is such a great community and I feel completely honoured to have received this award,” said Prins following the announcement.

The College was also the Bronze Medal recipient in the Applied Research and Innovation category for demonstrating excellence in addressing real-world challenges through applied research. In the 2021-2022 fiscal year, Lambton’s Research & Innovation team earned nearly $15M in research revenue working on 297 projects with 240 staff, 222 research students, and 88 recent graduates.
