Lambton College Receives National Gold Award of Excellence for the Second Consecutive Year

SARNIA, April 24, 2023 – The success of applied research at Lambton college continues to be recognized on a national level.

On Monday, April 24, the College was awarded the Gold Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award from Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), the organization that represents Canada’s publicly supported colleges, institutes, CEGEPs, and polytechnics.

Lambton College was presented with the prestigious award – for the second consecutive year – during the organization’s annual Awards of Excellence luncheon held in Montreal, Quebec,

The Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award recognizes a college or institute that has improved the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and community partners through the development of new and/or improved products, processes and services. It also recognizes institutions that provide students and graduates with real-word experience to enhance their in-class education.

For Lambton, this applied research and innovation honour comes on the heels of being ranked the country’s #3 research college in 2022 by Research Infosource Inc.

The CICan Awards of Excellence recognize best practices from institutions across the country, as well as individual leadership and achievements. The awards are presented in 10 categories at gold, silver and bronze levels.

Since 2016, Lambton has been named as a recipient of the Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award in either the gold, silver or bronze level every year except for one.

Additionally, Lambton College also received the Bronze Program Excellence Award for the Aamjiwnaang Personal Support Worker program in 2022 and Bronze in 2021 for the Indigenous Education Excellence Award.

As a leading applied research institution in Canada, Lambton College continues to grow its applied research portfolio, undertaking 297 projects with 257 partners, hiring 222 research students and 88 recent graduates in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
