Upon request, the college will provide a copy of this policy in an alternate format.

Policy

Subject to the exceptions listed below, the College will not provide funds for subscriptions to newspapers, magazines or association memberships.

Exceptions

A. Newspapers and Magazines

  1. Materials purchased for the Library collection.
  2. Materials purchased for re‐sale through the Campus Shop.
  3. One copy of selected items for the Public Relations office
  4. Materials used by students as consumables, as a required part of the curriculum.
  5. Materials provided as part of an approved college association membership.

Note : Items for the Library will be approved by the Manager, Educational Resources.
In all other instances, approval must be provided by the appropriate Dean or Vice‐President. In each instance, the cost of the subscription will be charged to the cost centre making the request.

B. Association Subscriptions

Personal subscriptions for an association membership will not be paid for by the College. Association subscriptions may be paid by the College, with the approval of the appropriate Vice‐President, if the subscription falls into one of the following categories.

  1. Where the subscription is required as part of a revenue generating project.
  2. Where the subscription is required, on an institutional or divisional basis, in order to maintain an academic program or associated service.

Note: All association subscriptions will be charged to the cost centre making the request.
