The Inn of the Good Shepherd Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a Lambton College program, who has demonstrated financial need, is from Lambton County and is among the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary education.
The Mission of The Inn is to provide service with dignity to those in need of food, shelter and other essentials. This is an important statement. It guides our programs and how we serve people.
Perhaps best known for our food programs, The Inn operates a food bank, soup kitchen, 2 homeless shelters, a mobile market and so much more.
Eligibility Criteria
- Student must be registered in a Diploma, Certificate, Degree, or Apprenticeship program at Lambton College, Sarnia Campus and be in good academic standing. Both first-year and returning students are eligible to apply.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or protected person.
- Student must be a resident of Lambton County.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are among the first generation in their family to attend post-secondary education.
- Student must have been involved or volunteered with an organization that is dedicated to supporting individuals from vulnerable populations, examples include children, people living in poverty, marginalized communities, people with physical or developmental disabilities etc.
- Student must submit a 500-1,000 word essay (1-2 pages) outlining their relevant experience.
- Student must have demonstrated financial need.
- Must have a minimum college GPA of 2.7 (B-) or a high school average of 70% in the top 6 senior courses (grade 11/12) or have successfully completed your Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED).

Selection Process
Selection Process
- After the deadline, the Student Awards Specialist will assemble a scholarship committee in order to assess and evaluate all candidates
- Each committee member will assess each application using the ranking system outlined below and will issue scholarships based on final tallied results:
Financial Need 50% (maximum 5 pts.)
Volunteerism 30% (maximum 3 pts.)
First Generation 10% (maximum 1 pt.)
High School Average 10% (maximum 1 pt.)
