SARNIA, February 11, 2026 – Lambton College is strengthening its leadership in research and innovation with the launch of an Ethical and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tool, developed through Lambton College’s Digital Transformation Lab. The tool positions the College among a small number of postsecondary institutions in Canada with an internally developed ethical AI framework of this kind.

Designed to embed ethics directly into the AI development lifecycle, the tool is currently in use to ensure AI systems developed through Lambton College’s collaborative research initiatives are transparent, fair, and accountable from the outset. The Ethical and Responsible AI Tool is grounded in the Government of Canada’s FASTER principles (Fair, Accountable, Secure, Transparent, Educated, Relevant), enabling early and ongoing assessment of algorithmic bias in AI applications.

“Responsible AI is no longer optional, it is essential,” said Adesh Shah, Manager, Digital Transformation Lab, Lambton College. “This tool allows us to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks while ensuring that AI solutions developed at Lambton College meet the highest ethical standards for industry and community partners.”

All data collected for training and testing AI models is fully anonymized, securely stored on local servers in Canada, and used exclusively for research purposes. The tool supports structured evaluation of datasets and AI outputs against established bias indicators and provides full traceability across data and model pipelines, ensuring accountability and Human-In-The-Loop at every stage of design and development.

By integrating ethical assessment at the beginning of projects, and continuously monitoring performance throughout, Lambton College’s Ethical and Responsible AI Tool provides strong compliance with emerging best practices in AI governance. This approach not only protects data integrity and privacy, but also builds trust with industry partners, researchers, students, and the broader community.

The launch of this tool reinforces Lambton College’s commitment to advancing responsible innovation, supporting the development of AI technologies that are not only technically robust, but socially responsible and aligned with public values.
