The Academic Upgrading Program is free and helps you build the skills you need for work, further education, or personal goals. Learning is flexible and based on your individual needs.

Eligibility Requirements

To take part in the program, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Live in Ontario
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status

Get Started

Whether you're looking to complete individual skills development courses or ACE courses, you will need to complete the following registration process:

Complete an Assessment

Initial assessments in reading and/or math determine your academic preparedness for the program. No previous formal education is required to enroll in the Academic Upgrading program.

Submit Registration Forms

You will be provided with a link to forms required for registration.

Meet an Academic Upgrading Advisor

Meeting will take place either virtually or by phone to confirm registration in the program.

Attend Orientation

Once you've met with your advisor to confirm registration, you will be provided with a program orientation dates - this will occur approximately two weeks after your registration is confirmed.

Start your Registration Process

Can you commit to 10 hours of on-campus study per week?
To participate in this program, you must meet all the following criteria:
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Be 18 years or older (or under 18 with an OSSD)
  • Live in the Sarnia area and be able to attend in-person classes
