  • COVID FAQs

    FAQs for International Students
How has COVID-19 affected the May 2021 term?
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, programs will be delivered in a fully remote or partially remote format.
I'm ready to study remotely - what are the requirements?
Students require a computer, webcam, microphone and reliable home internet connection. You can begin your program with an approved study permit, an approval in principle (AIP), or if you've submitted your study permit application for the Spring 2021 intake.
If I am unable to travel to Canada, can I study remotely from my home country?
Yes, many programs will be delivered in a fully remote format allowing you to study remotely while living in your home country. In fact, in term 1, instruction will be delivered at times suitable for students in multiple time zones - both in Canada and overseas.
I've never studied remotely before, will it be challenging?
Get ready to join thousands of Lambton College students already studying remotely, here in Canada and overseas. Remote study will require motivation, self-discipline, and effective time management skills. But here's the good news - these are all attributes that Canadian employers are looking for. This is a great opportunity to develop skills relevant to your ongoing studies and post-graduate employment success.
Will remote study impact my PGWPP eligibility?
According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), you can complete 100% of your studies online from outside Canada. All your time studying on line outside Canada between Spring 2020 and December 31, 2021, counts toward the length of a PGWP.
For the most up-to-date information, please visit the Government of Canada - IRCC website.
Can I study remotely, outside Canada, without a study permit?
According to the IRCC, after you apply for your study permit, you may begin studying online abroad and that time will count toward the length of your future post-graduate work permit until December 31, 2021.
I've registered for Spring 2021 without a full study permit approval. What happens if I receive a visa rejection after I begin my studies?
In the event that you receive a visa rejection at any time or stage, you remain eligible to apply for a refund of your prepaid fees less a $250 CAD processing fee and any non-refundable etextbooks. You must notify Lambton College within 10 days upon receipt of your visa rejection. Transcripts cannot be provided for semesters in which a student has been withdrawn and received a refund. Please refer to our refund and withdrawal policy.
When will I receive my timetable for the Spring 2021 intake?
Timetables are accessible after completing your online registration and mandatory orientation program.
I've paid fees to confirm my seat for the Spring 2021 intake. Can I defer my admission to a future intake?
As stated in the footnotes of your Lambton College acceptance letter, deferrals will not be approved. Students are expected to register for the intake in which their seat is confirmed.
Do I need to purchase a Quarantine Package?
Yes, all students entering Canada (new and returning), must purchase a three-night federal government quarantine hotel and a Lambton College quarantine package from their respective study location. The quarantine package is part of Lambton College's DLI Readiness Plan. Please refer to the following pages for information about how to purchase a Quarantine Package and receive your personalized Port of Entry support letter:
I intend to study remotely from within Canada. Am I eligible to work off-campus?
International students who were eligible to work on or off-campus can continue to do so, but remain subject to the same number of authorized hours (20 hours off-campus during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.)
For further information visit the IRCC Working as a Student webpage.
When does online registration open for the Spring 2021 intake?

I was approved for the May 2021 intake, but I would like to withdraw my admission and refund my fees. Is that possible?

The withdrawal deadline for the May 2021 intake is May 14, 2021. Refund and withdrawal requests submitted after this date will not be eligible for a refund of term 1 fees.
Where can I find information about my international student health insurance?
